Rosso Media Cuts Launch Costs For Wizarding World of Harry Potter

New TV spot to launch during Super Bowl 2010 ad break

February 06, 2010 -- DMN Newswire--2010-2-6--New UK turn-key production agency Rosso Media (www.rossomedia.com) worked directly with Universal Orlando(r) Resort to conceive and create TV commercials and web interactive content for the launch of its long-awaited attraction The Wizarding World of Harry Potter(tm).

Rosso Media made the most of the campaign's total production budget by creating visual assets that work across TV, web and other screen platforms. Rosso's first TV commercial for the campaign will debut during the world's most expensive ad break, the Super Bowl XLIV on 7th Feb, with an anticipated audience of around 100m viewers, and on primetime slots in the UK the following day.

The TV spot promotes a video-rich microsite for the Wizarding World (www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter), also created by Rosso Media. The second phase of the new site, due in March, will introduce original animated characters and advanced interactivity. Additional screen-based projects for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter are in the pipeline from Rosso Media.

"Rosso is set up to get more of the client's budget onto the screen -- whatever that screen might be," said Rosso Media CEO, Patrick Veale. ?By offering the all-round in-house capability to produce screen-based campaigns, we can deliver advertising brands much more for less.'

Rosso Media's TV spots for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Rosso Media worked directly with Universal Orlando to create two 30-second National US TV spots to launch The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Shot in London, the spots feature two children magically transported to Universal Orlando to fly ?like Harry' on broomsticks around the Wizarding World, swooping through the bustling streets of Hogsmeade(tm), past Hogwarts Express(tm), dodging a flying dragon and then meeting Harry above Hogwarts(tm), To view the commercial please visit? www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqpPj7pvi94.

Rosso Media's Patrick Veale wrote, produced and directed the spots, whilst Rosso's own animation studios created the Wizarding World in CG and post-produced everything in-house. The productions were planned to work cost-effectively with Rosso's other Universal project, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter website, by sharing key creative assets such as the extensive 3D CG.

Universal also asked Rosso Media to produce a video-rich, interactive microsite for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Phase One features a CG fly-through and a dynamic newspaper, The Wizarding World News. Phase Two will feature motion-captured animated characters, 3D look-arounds and much, much more.

Rosso Media designed and produced all the creative work and complex coding in-house for the ground-breaking interactive site. Universal's plan is to expand the site month by month as Rosso conceives and delivers more must-see interactive features.

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
